Tips for Buying a New Steam Iron

The thing about steam irons is that most people don’t know what they should be looking for when buying. For most people it is just a simple iron and they buy whatever has the best price tag. I wish it was this simple to shop for one, but you’re going to need to put in a little more thought and understand a little more about how it works. There are very specific characteristics that you need to look at, so that you can determine what is the best steam iron on the market for you. I thought I could give you a few simple points to help you out.

Power is by far the most important feature that is going to determine whether you have a good iron. Unlike a regular iron, you need to produce steam and produce a steady flow of it. If you don’t have enough power you’re going to experience a lot of spitting water instead of the steam that you need. I’ve tried out a few different power values and I’ve found that 1500W is the best power value that you need. If you go under this number you’re going to experience much less steam production. I’ve found that going over 1500W is really just throwing your money away as you’re going to get the same output of steam, but you’ll pay much more for it.

I’ve found that sticking with the main brands is about the safest move you can make. I personally can’t tell you what the best iron is because there is always a new one coming out. If you haven’t heard of the brand, you should avoid it. Names like Panasonic, Rowenta and Conair are good ones that have been around for quite sometime in the ironing market. In fact, Rowenta is a professional steam iron company, so they do produce nice items.
